I have put of and delayed this review in fear I was judging this new formula to soon. I’ve read so many hyped reviews and great opinions of this product and just could not get on with it. After a couple of weeks I decided it was not for me and put it to one side. But after picking it back up again I now have a more informed opinion of the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint.
I initially tried the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint out for two weeks. The whole time my skin felt greasy and like the product was just slipping off my skin. The formula was not lasting the day and the coverage was sheer at best so I set Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint aside to try out some other foundations.
After a couple of weeks I decided to give it a go again. This time I skipped moisturiser and used Urban Decays Pore Reducing Primer and I have to say it looked much better. It is matte but not flat powdery matte. And or though many reviews I have seen have stated the coverage is more full than the description states I have to say I disagree. The coverage on my skin is sheer to medium and I have tried applying it with a mixture of things from fingers to brushes and the beauty blender.
I love the shade, it does not oxidise like other formulations from Nars do on my skin. I also quite like applying the product but I still support my original opinion that it has no lasting properties to get you through an 8 hour shift at work. If I touched anything or cuddled anyone the product would come off and be visible on clothing. Namely the kids as I can be a bit of a snuggle monster when I want to be.
Its a good light formula of a weekend or summer evening but really I’m not in the market for a different finish of foundation depending on day or an event. Im looking for a formulation I can put on and not have to worry about till I need to remove on the evening.
